As you can probably imagine, it is not uncommon for women to experience some discomfort after giving birth.  Their perineum and muscles are understandably sore and if they experienced any tearing, they may be uncomfortable for a longer period of time.  Many moms find that a postpartum herbal bath soak can help alleviate some of their pain and discomfort, in addition to offering relaxation.photo-1-300x300

The Nurturing Root is now offering new moms a postpartum herbal bath to soothe and heal sore and tender perineal tissue after birth.  Made with 8 different healing herbs, this bath is just what a new mama needs to find comfort after birth.

To create an herbal brew, the contents of the jar should be boiled in water, allowed to steep for 20-minutes, and strained.  The brew can be added to a hot bath or added to a peri-bottle to rinse off after using the bathroom.  My most favorite use, and one I often used after my homebirth, is to pour some of the herbal brew on a maxi pad and freeze it.  The pad can be used as a perineal ice pack, which can not only help with perineal discomfort, but with hemorrhoids as well.  You can even treat baby’s umbilical stump!

The quart-size jar of postpartum herbs sells for $20.  We also carry an 8oz. postpartum herbal bath for $5.  To add this service to your encapsulation package, email Carmen.
